Bringing Innovative Educators and Civic Leaders Together to Plan Healthy, Vibrant Cities For and With Young People
Join the Center for Cities + Schools and innovative educators and civic leaders from Oakland as we launch Y-PLAN Richmond 2016-17! This half-day training will prepare civic leaders to engage with young people, educators to implement Y-PLAN in their classrooms, and all participants to work together to cultivate projects designed to build a healthier, more vibrant and joyful Richmond for and with young people.
Objectives:
- Connect Richmond civic leaders and educators
- Prepare civic leaders to engage with young people
- Train educators to implement Y-PLAN
- Cultivate Y-PLAN Richmond 2016-17 projects

- Y-PLAN Mini Project Experience
- Break-out Training Sessions for Educators + Civic Leaders
- Roundtable Discussion of Richmond Projects

Y-PLAN is an educational strategy that empowers young people to tackle real-world problems in their communities through project-based civic learning experiences.

CC+S conducts policy research, engages youth in urban planning, and cultivates collaboration between city and school leaders to strengthen all communities by harnessing the potential of urban planning to close the opportunity gap and improve education.
